The Route
Today you start from the Southern seashore and walk along well-maintained hiking path up to the
viewpoint Pico do Facho. After a section along the road you continue along the first ‚Levada‘ across
farmland. Lateron you ascend via a hiking trail through lush vegetation to the pass way across
Boca do Risco. This is the start of a very narrow, mainly exposed hiking trail. Please be extra
mindful and careful! The route leads along the cliff coast on either flat or slightly descending terrain.
Particularly exposed sections are secured with railings. On the final leg towards the Day Finish you
walk along roads and small dirt tracks downhill to the sea and then along the beach to Porto da
Cruz. Today‘s route requires surefootedness and a head for heights. In wet conditions there is a
danger of slipping! Tread carefully in any case!
